Name: Mignon
Blog(s): Intellectual Soul
How long you’ve been blogging: On and off for about 3 years
Tell us the 30 second skinny about your blog.
Intellectual Soul is a music blog that features only good music with grand lyrical content and in some way, makes me reminiscent of good times past. None of that stuff that when I listen to it I feel like I'm losing brain cells. Many people clump entertainment blogs together and think they all contain gossip. Well not this one. A lot of research goes into each post as I try to present only the best ( or what I think is the best) in new music, videos, history and commentary...you know, "music with an I.Q".
What inspired you to start blogging?
Back in the days of Myspace, I initially started blogging to chronicle my thoughts and feelings of being pregnant and sending my husband overseas. We were newlyweds and 3 months after our wedding day I put him on a plane to spend the next 15 months away from home. I didn't want to tell him what I really thought about him going to war, so I wrote it down. It was very therapeutic. Since then, blogging has taken on a whole new form. It's my form of self-expression and my creative way to leave my imprint on the world.
How has blogging changed your life?
Blogging has changed my life because I've always wanted to be a writer. Even as a child. To this day, I would love to see people fighting over the last copy of some book I've written. Okay, they don't have to be fighting over it, but I'd love to see my book in stores. But, I always thought that you weren't a writer unless some big publishing company has published you. Blogging has changed that whole perspective. It's allowed me to become a writer in my own right. I publish pieces of my written work that I've painstankingly and lovingly written everytime I push the 'publish' button. Blogging has given me the confidence to say that I AM a writer. Now, I only aspire to have my writing published on various mediums.
What do you wish someone would’ve hipped you to when you started your blog?
I wish someone would've told me that blogging was such a huge commitment. Initially, I was doing it for myself. Now, if I don't blog I feel like I've let my readers down in some way. Yea, it definitely would've been nice to have a good striking conversation about blog-life balance. Or even if there is such a thing. I would've also liked to know about branding. My blog had a long weird name before I changed it. I didn't realize the power a blog's name has in it.
Give us the dirt; what’s one thing about you your readers don’t know?
My blog is about music so there's a lot about me my readers don't know actually. But to start let's see. I'm 26, I skipped the 3rd grade and in my fantasy life I would very much love to be a pastry chef! WATCH OUT CHEF DUFF!
Spread the love; name three blogs in your reader.

What made you answer our plea for help *ahem* we mean our internship request?
I was looking for an internship to fulfill some graduate school practicum requirements and got a tweet saying you all needed an intern. When I saw it, I knew it would be perfect. I've been silently following the blog since a couple months before the Blogalicious 09 conference and loved what I saw. Besides that, the party you all threw at the conference was bananas!! I try to work with people with similar goals as my own and whose mission I support. I knew this would be a great fit. Boy, was I right!
What are you looking forward to most about working with us?
I'm looking forward to absorbing lots of knowledge about the in's and out's of social media, what it takes to run a successful partnership and most of all how to use all of that to be succesful in both my studies and my future endeavors. When it comes to knowledge and understanding, I'm like a sponge. I hope to suck up everything I can while still leaving room for more. I hope to impart the stuff I know with you all as well. You ladies have a great spirit and are extremely fun to work with. I'm sure that amongst all the giggles and fun, we'll have plenty of time to learn from each other.
Everyone knows we have BlogRoller Brainstorming sessions at Blue Moon Pizza; what toppings do you put on a slice?
Oooo, pizza! Okay, I'll have a slice with onions, green peppers, black olives, mushrooms and extra cheese. And if I'm feeling particularly carefree I have hawaiian BBQ chicken pizza with chicken, BBQ sauce, pineapple and onions. Yes! Sign me up!
Thanks, Mignon! We're so happy to have you on board.
