Regator: Blog Organization at its Best!

Wednesday, July 1, 2009

You know by now that The BlogRollers are all about enjoying blogging and social networking but we hope that amidst the fun, we can also bring you valuable information that helps further your blogging efforts.

Today I want to tell you all about Regator. I discovered Regator back in May when I had the pleasure of meeting the great team behind this site at Mashable Mixer Atlanta...and they are headquarted in Atlanta too (woot woot). I wanted to "play around with it" for a while before I told you about it. You know...keeping with full disclosure and honesty :) I wanted to give you my honest opinion and...honestly...It's great!!

What Is Regator?
Per their own description, "Regator gathers the web’s best blog posts and makes it easy for users of all skill levels to find, discuss, rank, organize, and share high-quality content about more than 500 topics. Regator, the most selective blog resource online today, sorts through the junk so you don’t have to.” And that it is! You can search and save blog posts on almost any topic. When you join Regator (yes, it's FREE), you are given a dashboard where you can save all of your searches. You can search by category or "channel" such as Academics, Entertainment, Lifestyle, or Sports or you can add in your own keywords to search by. You can save entire blog feeds or just the individual posts you like. To me, this was like Google Reader on steroids!

How The ChatterBox Uses Regator
Those who know me via my personal blog, My Life - A Work In Progress, know that I am all about my Google Reader. It is where I subscribe to the many many many blogs I follow (current level of blog guilt = 410 - DOH!). Since imersing myself in social media/social marketing these days, there is a whole new crop of blogs that I am following/subscribe to for research and information. It felt a bit crowded in my reader to have my "business" mixing with "pleasure". Thank goodness for Regator! I now use Regator to search for and save all of my social media and marketing blogs and posts. I have added some of my favorite information blog feed subscriptions (like I would do in GR) but also add in individual posts that I may discover via Twitter, etc. I love how I can further organize my saved posts by creating folders so I can keep like content together. It has made keeping track of all of the great articles I find so much easier. And like GR, it's portable...if you bookmark it, its only on YOUR machine. Regator is with you as long as you can access the web! So GR for personal blogs, Regator for business...gee, don't I sound organized?

Just so you know, this was not really a review but if it was, it would be rated JB as in "Just Because"...just because I thought it was cool! Speaking of cool...check out my Wordless Wednesday post for today for more Regator love!

Brim over I acquiesce in but I contemplate the collection should have more info then it has.
