Feature Friday: Everyday Baby Steps
Friday, May 8, 2009
The BlogRollers are all about promoting the power of female bloggers and so much of that starts with you. We’ve created our BlogRoll so that we could show you a little linky love and so that others can find you, too. Every two weeks we'll choose one blog via Random.org from our BlogRoll to feature on our site. We believe in promoting and supporting one another and there’s no better way to do that than by shining the spotlight on as many fabulous blogs as possible.
So, without further ado, our first Feature Friday blogger is Mary from Everyday Baby Steps. Once you’ve read her feature, make sure to go show her some love!

Name: Mary Davis
Blog(s): Everyday Baby Steps and Adventures in Freelancing
How long you’ve been blogging?
I've only been blogging for about a year now, but I love it!
Tell us the 30 second skinny about your blog.
Everyday Baby Steps has evolved over time. It started out as a place for me to practice my writing and to document my transition from the traditional workforce to work-at-home mom. I now mostly write about beauty, health, fashion, and personal development for moms. Adventures in Freelancing has always been a place for newbie freelancers like myself to converge and to learn together.
What inspired you to start blogging?
I wanted to work toward becoming a freelance writer and knew that I needed to get into a habit of writing regularly. I also felt that a blog would be a good way to build a platform online and would provide a place to direct editors to my writing samples. I never expected blogging to become such an integral part of my life!
How has blogging changed your life?
Blogging has changed my life in many ways. I love the online community. I've been able to interact with so many people I would never have met otherwise. Blogging has shown me a world of opportunities and has given me the self-confidence to pursue various outlets with my writing.
What do you wish someone would’ve hipped you to when you started your blog?
I wish I had known the importance of investing myself in my blog, knowing that I could grow as a writer and that my blogs could be used as a professional venue. I believe I treated blogging as a hobby for far too long. I now know that it's okay to invest my time into blogging and to treat it like a job that I love.
Give us the dirt; what’s one thing about you your readers don’t know?
I'm pretty open as a person, and I reflect that in my blogs. Readers may not know that I'm in a constant battle with my self-esteem. My blog actually helps me to "put myself out there," which has been nothing but a rewarding experience!
Spread the love; name three blogs in your reader.
My poor neglected reader! I like to keep up with my friend Angela at Dancing at My Desk. I also check in with Audrey from Mom Generations every day. I also read Freelance Writing Jobs regularly. I know I'm forgetting some amazing bloggers, but these are the ones I check in with most often.
Thanks for sharing, Mary!

I just love Mary! She was one of my very first Twitter friends and also wrote an amazing review of my book, "Your Big Sister's Guide to Surviving College": http://andyouwill.com/tag/christie-glascoe-crowder/
